geeze, it's after 10 and it's a mere 37 degrees outside. Even RebaB wouldn't go out this morning, except long enough to take care of business and then it was back on the couch.

Nope-- that aint my weather..... It must belong to the blue haired French- Canadian ladies from Quebec. that plug up Gregs roads in the winter :D

We are back to normal-- snow is almost all gone. Raining heavily and about 45F. Now where did I put that fungus spray?????

Nope-- not really-- but I got a real neat windburn from the day on the MadSon!!! :D

I have to admit I was suprised by the thin blooded young kids wandering around Mickeys place with jackets on as the day was ONLY 74 f in the morning... Got to wonder how they would make out if it got REALLY cold????!!

74f is not really cold??? The cold weather here has been welcome.I had a fire in the fireplace, my old chessie by my side, and we watched the Spurs kick butt last night. A week of winter is enough.Life is Good! Rusty

Aw crap-- just when I was getting smug aboput the weather, I get whacked!

Day three running the generator. 70mph winds hitting rainsoaked trees gets you a LOT of damage. Over 130,000 without power, mainly near where I live.

Now down the 30K without juice. We have a big fir tree hanging on the hot power and telephone lines, the ground line snapped when the tree hit it. The top of one power pole has been smashed too. Lots of next years firewood down on the property too. Had another one come down last night and graze the deck.

Given the extent of the area damage, I expect it will be another couple of days before we are fixed up.

Really love the woodstove, barbeque and the generator when this happens..

Could be worse....

On the way to visit our daughter in Tennessee last Thursday, we stopped in Tifton, south Georgia for the night. Coldest couple of nights there in two years. Just above ten degrees. First couple of nights in Tennessee were bitter as well. We actually threw snowballs at each other Saturday morning in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Icicles were hanging off the mountainsides, & there was a half inch of ice on most of the creeks. Pretty scenerey, especially for this flatlander, but I don't do cold real well. That mountain air is too dry for me. Back here at home, it's at or near 80*. Much more to my liking.

Tried to get my son-inlaw logged on to the GG board. He was slow getting okayed. Duff? You there?

Gee whiz, Bryan. That doesn't sound good at all. However, look at the bright side. Now you'll have something to do with all of your spare time. :D You retarded guys have a lot of spare time and, if you're not careful, you'll end up taking a lot of cruises and wearing Penguin suits!:D :D :D

Penquin suits sound pretty good right now-- A hydro crew got to our place last night about 9pm-- promtly got stuck turning around around on the grass. The company is sending a landscaper out today to fix the lawn-- but the hydro crew has been redeployed out of the area, so it will be Sat at the earliest before we get power back--- I am the only one left in our area without power..:(

But still minor in the big scheme of things.

Bryan, did you get re-hit with that one that went through last night?? They were forcasting 80-90 mph gusts for us. Luckily we only got 65 mph gusts:confused: Steady 35's this morning. Hope you get back to normal soon.

Yup-- things got tense about 2 am... but nothing came down on any wires, so no big deal for us. A couple of boats in the marina went down however. Dont understand how anyone who ownes a boat can just assume everything will be OK without going to look!

I'm sure glad we are in an el ninio year and that we are going to have a drier, warmer and calmer winter.  35 and 40 mph winds seem to be the norm and then we get storms. We have been lucky, no damage and only lost power for three hours. There are places in the urban area around Seattle that still do not have power back on from the storm eight days ago. Metropolitain hospitals have treated over 200 (mostly imigrant) people for carbon monoxide poisioning. The nighttime temps have been hovering at freezing or below since the storm and bbqs and brickettes are the main problem although some people are getting in trouble from running their genorators in attached garages.:(
