View Full Version : What did everyone get for Xmas?
Rolling rod holder for twelve rods, Sweaters, rolling tool crate and a bunch of other stuff. Notice the theme of rolling stock? Honest I can still lift stuff:) :)

Shimano Tekota 600. Already have a 500 & love it. This one goes on the Rogue Rod I bought thru Captain Dan a few years ago. Here's a site with a review & details on the reel: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanotekota600lc.html

The best was a 2007 calender put together by my daughter featuring my grandaughters. They are sure growing up quickly.
This was the first year that I specifically asked NOT to get any fishing gear. For once I needed to refill the sock and underwear drawer! :D

A new computer! My monitor went black and I was working on a laptop that I hate and I thought I needed a monitor so my wife purchased me a whole new computer. When I went to disconnect the monitior on my present puter, found it was unplugged. Neat trick Huh?
Also a 2500 Daiwa Certate. A REALLY really SMOOOOOOOTH reel... So smooth that you can start the handle and rotor turning by merely pushing or pulling on the spool via the drag knob. And light too. Kinda spendy though. Except I got it thru the tackle store where I work.
My daughter gave me a Bass Mailbox, which my wife refuses to allow me to put up, so I guess it's going back to BPS

I'd take the reel over the computer anytime. Even in this sub-zero weather. Dan
got the 'Real PK' her new Dell 17" laptop--desktop replacement..that's what she wanted... it was a long time coming since she was using my old Dell that I redid for her two years ago... damn this new one is fast... puts my old Gateway desktop to shame
plus of course we stopped in St Thomas for some shopping on the his-her back to back cruises the last few weeks...... plus she gave me the fishing charter in the Bahamas which really made the entire trips for me... no reels for me this Christmas.. for some reason I think I have a bunch too many...and I never thought I'd ever say that.. plus she got a few gold and diamond bracelets..nothing crazy-expensive.. hay.. that means I guess I can buy myself some more reels... heheheheee :)
hope everyone had a great Christmas ...
Capt Dan.. glad you're getting a touch of the cold tundra weather.. last I looked this morning at 5am Ft Laud had 59* as a low...Ft Pierce 55*... guess that means you're right about there also... as for us this AM in s/e NC... a friggin' brrrr 33*.. not nice... I ain't happy.. woke up to 80* mornings last week in St Thomas.....I need da' HEAT...

Ray: A man can never have too many reels. If you really need da heat, yer jus' gonna have to move south. We had two mornings at or a tad below fifty lately, but the low in the morning will be closer to 70*.
~~Greg~~
I know ... we left Ft L. Sat 930am.. it was over 80* already...
love that HEAT but Fla has just gotten way too crowded the past few years for us... it's like being back up on Long Island... just with da' HEAT..
as far as reels... right now I'm up to 127.. even have them listed in a database just trying to keep track of them :D

Ray, what do you do with 127 reels? Yikes!
I haven't counted, but I might have about 20.
ya got me... I usually fish just about everyday.. that's a lame excuse for all these...and use maybe half dozen on a regular basis... but I guess 127 is a bit much...actually there's a few more.. maybe a dozen or so... that need to be added to the database.. Abu collectables... that's why I go on so many cruises.. to stop from buying more reels... then again I try to keep up with Pat buying shoes.. heheheee:cool:

haven't counted them lately... or databased them yet...don't have the time being 'retired' and all.. last was around 85-90.. as far as 'toys'.. I have a long way to go to catch up to Capt Dan.. and Jack H with all his boats.. and Greg with all his snakes:eek: ...
I just have these little doods for security at the house... my highly trained 'home-land' security force ...on standby at all times..

no I haven't...but we've been away and traveling since before Thanxgiving.. this is the longest stretch we've been at home since mid Nov....10 days..
Howard counts his sheckles on his 'money-database' while I just count reels and rods..:D
You can always use a new reel - then you have to get a rod for it. Or you see a really nice rod and you just gotta get a nice reel for it ;)
We visited the brand new Bass Pro temple-to-man's-needs-on-earth across the lake over the holiday. I noted 4 nice offshore rods. There was a great selection of reels as well. 'course then I'd have to get the new boat (I already have 8 new rods and reels to go on it). And I am shopping :)
and that's how this rod and reel stuff got crazier.. boats... then more rods and reels..
and for me.. no more so-called 'big' boats... if I ever do make the plunge again it'll only be maybe a 19' or so... just to get off the beach and run out a few miles to the inshore reefs... or better yet just do a charter in the Bahamas on one of our cruises like last weeks..
unless of course the Lotto comes our way ...then a Cabo.. heheheee:D
Happy New year
