View Full Version : Hey Gang
I've been away for quite a while, but I wanted to drop in and say hi and wish everyone a happy holiday season!
It's great to see so many familiar names are still here. It was pretty sad when DrJET and Patrick passed on. I'm not all over the web like I used to be, but I'll be popping in from time to time.
Y'all take care and post up some durned fishing reports! :^)

Welcome back, oh east coast oenophile.
~~Greg~~
Another prodigal son returns :) Good to hear from you Chris. Trust all is well. BJ and I are still in Texas and may end up retiring here.
We need to have another gathering back there one of these days. Actually, it's about time everyone gets out here to God's country ;) Mont knows all the fishing tricks on the Texas coast.

Great memory there JD! I lost track of Mo's board too. Zane, Jack, Greg - it good to hear from all you guys.
I still fish with Keith regurlarly but I've got my boat on the trailer in the back yard now. Having it at the marina and paying every month makes you wnat to get out and use it more. I had big plans for the thxgivng weekend, but the wind gods didnt cooperate.
Last January I got to snorkle and fish out of North Caicos in the British West Indies. It was too windy to flyfish for bones, but we made an offshore run (all of 4 miles offshore!) and I fished off the beach down there. That was sure sweet! Also hit San Diego in the spring and caught a little 'but out there.
Been using a lot of berkley gulps lately. Man, I love them things. Just whatever you do, dont let the bag leak in the back of SWMBO's Lexus. lol The cats will chase you down the street!!! :^)
here are a couple of shots from North Caicos - look at all the crowds on the beach in January :D

Tough place to fish, eh? Our guide was Jay Johnson out of Bottle Creek Lodge. Great folks and a nice little camp.

Jay runs a grady and a flats boat. Here's me on a cuda. :^(

Looking at that tackle, I'd say the 'cuda was a tad over matched. They can be a trip saver, & are a lot of fun on light tackle. Shoot me an e-mail. I have a red label you might want to give a try.

Absolutely over matched on that one Greg! This was the first fishable day on our trip, the 5 previous days were a honking north wind - we got there on day 3 of the blow. There was no fresh fish on the island and even the conch divers had been kept in port. Jay was highly motivated to catch that day - I told him all I wanted was enough fish to eat for dinner and he could sell all the rest. But I wasnt eating cuda and we had hooked 4 already. The Hatian mate John was a happy man cuz he WAS gonna get all the cuda. But we were looking for wahoo and fished our butts off. Ended up jiggin up 1 grouper for supper. Jay's wife, who runs the lodge cooked us up a great meal. If y'all ever get to Turks and Caicos, I recommend skipping Provo and heading over to North Caicos. Night and day difference. But hurry cuz the first big condo is already into phase 2 there.
Good to see some of the old crew checkin' back in. From what I hear, Mo has moved inland and doesn't have anything much to do with his site these days. If y'all ever want to have a gathering in Texas, we can book a trip on the Big E. It's a 150 footer that goes to the tuna grounds on 2 day trips. Or, if y'all want to book something shorter or on the bays, I have the connections.

Good to hear from you Pote. Seems like we have all gotten too busy to post like we used to. I'm lucky to check in once a week. Sometimes I'll read some during lunch, but don't usually have time to reply. Check in every now and then. It's good to hear from all of the "old" guys! :D

Chris, I'll be down your way on Saturday for our annual striper trip. You want to get together and eat dinner with us?
I'd love to Eddie, but I have to go to Alexandria this weekend. Got some family business to tend to. :(
