Was driving too gas up car and realised this is a nice day. Checked bouy re-
ports on computer when i got home they agreed, so off i went in search
of tog bait. Found crabs at lynnhaven they were dead so got them at half price drove to 3 other places before finding clams. [i know should have done
this yesterday] Headed down to marina and fired up boat got under way 0920
Figured i better stay in close, poppet valve been givin me trouble with water
PSI so i anchored up on the yancey, fish started bitin rite off the bat but too
small to keep. Then they stopped bitin, another fellow moved in and he didn't
do nothing either so i moved to the first island[CBBT] watched the rockfish
people get snagged on the rocks was all that was happening their. By this time the bay was flat the sun was beaming so i just kicked back ate lunch
and enjoyed the last day of the year. About 1400 i ran back to the yancey wk
and the boat i mention before was still their and still not catchin, soo i anc-
hanored up about 4 sets of piles down from them and waited. 20 min went
by and they hooked up, i thought, all rite, the guy catches what looked to be a 8 inch tog and PUTS IT IN THE COOLER! Then his buddy in the back of the
boat hooks up calls for the net and that tog was smaller than the first, i couldn't believe it when it too was thrown into the box. Now i know it was
slow and the law is 14-1/2 inch's on togs, A man on a day like this mite slip
a 14 in the box but come on i thought those fish arn't worth touchin or killin,
and the more i thought the more i was gettin peed and WAMM i got nailed,
hooked and was fitin a drag taker, Got HIM in the boat [no net] 20 3/4 inch
roughly between 7 to 7 1/2 lbs gave him a kiss on the cheek said "go get em"
then threw him back in, my pochin colligues about had a heart attack,
couldn't believe their eyes. I was using 50# rig with 06 hook and 320 penn
reel, they had bottom rigs with bait hooks and garbage spinning rods that if
they hooked that tog HE destroy their rigs and hopfully their will to tog fish.
I'v caught many a tog with garbage tackel still in inbedded in it, usually clean
the fish up and let him or her go to fight another day.
So i fed a few more fish, started to get cold, pulled anchor headed for the barn with the poppet valve acting up only once.
Ended bringing in the new year by hitting the sack by 9pm. Happy new year.
Thats my FISH report for 07, got to get my boat fixed all permits for 08 up-
dated clean her up, looks like it's offshore time. Break Out Another Thousand.
