why there are not any new posts here. It's so cold that Cyber Space is froze up and no messages go thru. 28* here yesterday morning. Up in north Florida where Jesse and Howard live it was colder I'm sure. Some friends asked me if I was going to cover up my delicate plants, I told them hell no, you gotta be tough to get along in this world. The wind was honkin thru here at 25 mph. I started out to get the newspaper, too 5 steps and thought the hell with it. Chris got up 1/2 hour later and she went out an got it. I was back in bed. The cowards way out.
____ Dan ____
It's finally warming up a bit here. I had to drain the RV completely down to keep it from freezing. Even the dogs don't want to go outside.

Yesterday morning, it was 37* here, which is six degrees warmer than predicted. I believed the prediction & took the day off. I'm too old & have too much burnable time to work in that stuff.
It was 15* warmer this morning & I went fishing. In the rain & the blowin' wind & the 6 foot seas. Idiot. Monty & Howard, we should do well on the sails next Friday. The conditions are right for them, & they seem to be out there. I may have had one on this morning, not sure.

Well welcome to my world :p. At least you guys know that it will end soon, Rum soaked BB and I have to put up with this stuff untill May or June:eek:
P.S. I do hope it gets better for you and I wish I was going after sails with you next week. Maybe next year
Forecast for north Texas is 70's all weekend. This follows solid ice on bird baths and fish ponds for the past 4 days. Big dent in the wood pile. Trust this warmer system moves your way
The weather man is talking a heat wave the next few days here. They are saying we will have mid forties for the weekend and first few days of next week. Maybe we will lose some of this two feet of snow we have and melt down some of these big piles of snow so I will have room to plow more up later.
enuff of this crapola already, already.. three days is plenty...
today was the first day it got into the 40's here... yesterday morning 24*... this morning..17*... I thought I was having 'flashbacks' when I woke up and it felt like I was still living up on Long Island..... crazy... so much for global warming...
as a sidenote to that.. spoke to my BIL who lives on Long Island yesterday.. said he just got a fuel oil delivery to his house .. when I asked him what home heating oil was these days... 3.22 a gallon.. I almost dropped the phone.. I did a little research and sure enuff ... those n/e states are getting slammed with oil prices.. averaging about 3.50 a gallon..

Well-- the snow we had before Xmas has finally melted-- thanks to howling gales, with pounding rain the whole week-- some relief!!!
Time to put the boat back in the water-- I need more prawns!!!!!
Ya have to be tough to live in the north woods!!!:D
Still no joy in the great NW used boat hunt.... the only boat I saw listed that I got really hot about, was owned by a guy that wont even answer emails-- Oh well--- next:(

As Ray would say,"what's this crapola", you can't work when the temp is in the 30's but you can go fishing. We can tell little miss Wifey is out of town.

Dan: No, I would prefer not to work in temps in the thirties, & the truth be told, if it had not warmed up like it did, I most likely would have canceled the fishing. Friday morning, however, temps were in the fifties, & warmed up to almost seventy. Bluefish & Spanish macks are here, so you know it's winter in Sofla. There's a sailfish tournament a day or two before we go looking for them next week. Looking at the long range forecast, the temps next Friday should be more in the reasonable range, starting around 60* & warming up to the mid seventies.

Well, we survived the artic blast! 41 degrees this morning and we should see 65 degrees today!
Dan, it's funny how that cold stuff works when you are talking fishing vs. work. I won't go out in the yard to work if it is less than 45 degrees. However, my rule on fishing is that I'll go as long as it is warmer than 32 degrees and not windy! :D So, I understand Greg perfectly!

Yes, indeed.
The horses were right perplexed why they couldn't drink out of the troughs.
I had to take the end of the rake handle to bust through it.
They take the cold alot better than me though. I think my next move is to Everglades city or something.

Well Jesse, you wanted to be a Pioneer. That is the price you pay.
I have to admit that to be on the safe side I ran my pools filtration system all night for Wed and Thurs. During the cold months I do not run the heat pump for it. Way too much electricity to heat up 23,000 gals of water. We do use the spa though. Takes about 2 hours for it to heat to the 104º I like it. It is kind of cool to see the steam coming off it on cooler nights, especially with the changing color lights at the bottom. Then when I switch back to the full pool, it pours that hot water into the pool and get the steam coming off the entire setup.
You guys ought to give some thought to coming and spending a weekend here this summer. Always plenty to eat and drink. Loads of room for friends.
