We had a great eight days in Mazatlan. Other than a short cruise ship stop about seven years ago I haven't been there for about twenty years. Spent "86 and '87 there in a motorhome and "88 in an apartment for three months. North end has grown a lot with condos and hotels but the old part is about the same. Went to the shrimp market (prawn market to batbreath) one day and bought 4 kilos of shrimp then walked down the street to the bar and had them cooked four different ways and had a great lunch with all the trimmings.

I didn't go out fishing as this was the Mrs. birthday and anniversry trip (32 years) Stayed with some friends that provided us with our own 2 bedroom condo on the malacon midway between the gold zone and old town.
Back home and the weather sucks.

welcome back.. sounds like you guys had a great time.. and a belated Happy Anniversary...

the best thing you did was NOT to go fishing there.. I was in Mazatlan a few weeks before you on a cruise stop just for one day...did a Sailfish charter .. you can read my fishing reports with Mazatlan included half way down the page..

we leave for another cruise--20 days-- back to back 10 day cruises to the southern Caribbean-- in less than 5 weeks.. April 14th.. only booked the Bahamas ..cruiseline's private island.. again as it was the only charter offered by the ship on this run...

heading back over to the Pacific side for a 28 day Canal cruise roundtrip from Ft Laud again in the latter part of February..I gotta get back there.. and try Guatemala (yippee--it is now my favorite Sailfish spot) and Cabo again( hopefully a lot less whales)

I has read your ultimate cruise report, sounds like a blast. I fished out of Mazatlan 20 years ago a few times. The best??? trip was when I quit counting at 37 marlin that we had drug the bait by without a hit. We had a bait boy (50 years old boy) and as the marlin would swoop in and not take the bait the bb would say "fish no hungary" a couple of hours later we went by another boat with a bikini clad fox fighting a marlin and I looked at the bb and his response was " she lucky, you no lucky". :) :) I still to this day laugh and tell that story.
