Went out on the Pastime Princess out of New Smyrna Saturday and had a great time. I have always liked party boats because they're relatively cheap :) and plenty of interesting people to talk with. Some boats are better than others, and this one is definitely one of the best on the east coast of Florida that I've been on. It is a 100' boat with all the conveniences you could want, and they serve great food! Even have 2 flavors of fruit smoothies they make for you - howabout that for keeping up with the times?? I got to talk with Capt. Ernie at length about his very interesting background - nicest guy you could ever meet.

The winds were blowing hard from the SW at 20-25 with seas running 4-5 until around noon when it warmed up to about 87 for a high with 3 footers. The bite started slow with mostly small sharks being caught until finally we got into some nice cobia and red snapper. I caught a mixed bag of about 20 fish by the end of the day. There was a loggerhead turtle caught and released. My best fish was one of the biggest sea bass I've ever caught. And speaking of sea bass, here is an interesting article comparing them to pirahnas: http://www.gainesvillesun.com/article/20080316/NEWS/922655504
And here are pictures from Saturday, posted by the people who run the boat:
