Been watching the price of gas and diesel here on the west coast. Right now, the price of an Imperial gallon of gas on Vancouver Island is $117.9 Can/litre. That works out to $4.45/gal US!!!! I also noted that diesel in more than a few places in Wa and Or is over $4.00/gal . OUCH!!!

So I guess the question is-- given there is only so much money in the bank unless you are Howard, what are you giving up in order to keep fishing? A cruise?, new flooring in the house? Morgage payment, less visits to Lillians Happy Palace??? Whats it going to be? Inquiring minds need direction!

I buy gas at Costco, & they have a new thing that we just signed up for. It's a Costco/American Express card that gives us a 3% rebate on gasoline purchases.
At today's prices, that's a hair shy of a dime a gallon.

I still fish every week, but we are probably not eating out as often as we have in the past.

Happy Easter!

hope you meant 1.179 a litre and not $117.9

for you and Howard that's e-z..... for me it'd be diet-coke and fresca.. yawn..yawn..

hmmmm.. our cruises??... more hmmmmm.. that'd be a tuff one..naw.. can't do it right now... ...as an alternative I could cut back on the 'tackle' and reels I buy that I can assure you I don't need.... likewise with 'the real PK' buying mucho many 'shooz'... now those two things would be major $$$$$ cutbacks

we live in NC about a half mile north of the SC border... NC gas prices.. 3.29 gal regular.. SC 3.17 gal... we normally drive down to Myrtle Beach.. about 20 miles south of us-- a couple of times a week to go shopping/malls Bass Pro etc.... so we stop in at Costco.. 3.09 gallon right now.. Sams Club is the same... might even have to think about cutting that back to once a week making that jaunt.....my BIL did what Greg did with the Costco-Amex card and gets 3% off a gallon.. think I might do the same

HAPPY EASTER to all

It's right at 4 bucks per gallong for diesel and $3.25 per gallon for gas. A full load of diesel for the boat is just under $1000. Personally, I hope it stays high and keeps the idjuts off the water this summer.

Happy Easter Y'all!

We use our Sams card and buy our Gas there. at $3.19 a Gal.

While I admit no one has to run a benifit for me, I too will cut back. Boating time is here and I would say my boat, cruising runs me $20-25 an hour on the move. So, I have elected to cut out my Wife's Cigars and Whiskey. No longer stopping at Rookie Donuts (PK knows) for my Bagel and Coffee. Brew a pot, take a thermos and make the Bagel at home. However I will also admit to a few luxuries. Bought a bottle of Sambuca Negra yesterday and told Vicki, she could not have her nails done today. The Doctor thinks I will be able to walk without pain in a week.;) ;)

Running $3.10 ro $3.20 regular in N. Texas. I've chosen to drive less so as not to have to reduce the quality of my wine purchases :)

As high as 3.55 a gallon in town. may have to start a grouper charity for the fool to be able to fish this summer in Canada :D :D :D It might be that or buy a big set of oars for the "Fishingfools". I wonder how long it would take me to row out the 20 miles against a 4 kt current

3.09 to 3.15 a gallon here in the hill country.Thinking about telling my two kids in college to get bikes and skate boards to ride on, and taking there gas cards away so I can keep on fishing....I do not think they will go for it .... I guess I could stay on the water longer when fishing to get my moneys worth:) and catch more fish for the table .I know it would be tough, but some times you have to do what you have to do. Of course this is only to help the family out.Rusty

Rusty, you get my vote for family Man of the year. What a sacrifice you are willing to make.

Howard I am a high school drop out and you can tell by my punctuation. I paid for my wife's education too. I never had the chance to go to college and I want my kids to have a better start than I had. Thanks for the compliment my friend.

It was meant that way Rusty. That should be the goal of all in life, no matter what you have accomplished. Make it even better for your kids
