Gerry-- my friend and fishing partner for quite a number of years is in hospital, soon to undergo spinal surgery in his neck, For a couple of months he has been suffering from weakness and pain along his left side. At first we thought "stroke" but blood tests ruled that out.

2 days ago it got worse with a bowel shut-down. He underwent a MRI which disclosed a vertebral compression in the C2 and C3 region of the neck. It is repairable if the surgeon has a steady hand. However, even if things go well ( and we are all in prayer mode) , he will be out of action for 6 months. It will be even longer before he can go out in the Cuba Libre.

Damn--- :(

Sorry my friend, hope Gerry makes a speedy recovery. A few months recovery is a cheap price to pay for many more good years of fishing. Keep us posted on how he is doing and let us know when he will be back reading the posts on the grouper.

Hmmm...this is weird. I replied to this last night and it is gone! Have I been sensored or did I just screw up? I dunno.
Anyway, I said that I was sorry to hear about you fishin' buddy. And, I suggested that you take that lovely young lady that lives with you fishin'! ;)

Bry: I sent Gerry a card while I was up in Tennessee. I neglected to put more than the normal amount of postage on it. Luckily, I put my home address here as the return address. I will get the proper amount on it & get it sent off again probably Monday. I'm just checking to see if he is still at the same address.

Thanks! ~Greg~~

Hi to all and thanks for the good wishes.
I am up now more than I was, so as I was told it will just take some time.
Sure sucks, however the other option was not a good one.
Sure have a ton of respect for the nurses and doctors and what they do and go through every day.

I just want to thank you all again for your thoughts and well wishes.

Gerry

Gerry, glad to hear that you are doing well. Slow and steady is the recovery you want and we all want for you.

We need you to recover well enough and fast enough, so none of us has to be involved with Batbreath. PK as a good "Catlick" is going to put in a word with the Pope with plans for living Sainthood for you.

Seriously, we do know how much your recovery means to Bryan and in turn to all of us.

Gerry, glad you are up and around. A few months on the sideline is a cheap price to pay for 25 more years of fishing :) Keep us updated on your progress and we all will try to keep batbreath occupied so you can get some peace and quiet :D
