This ain't no Greg report. Greg catches fish. I got up at 8:30am, Fixed breakfast, tea and toast. My fishing partner picked me up at 10am. Had the boat in the water about 11am. We fished from 11am till 3pm. Wonderful day on the water. Watched a pair of eagles, they would fish then sit in a big dead tree, then fish. Just a gentle 5 mph breeze, got lot's of good drifts. The wind was from the S.E.
That pair of eagles have used the same nest and tree for at least 10 years. There were mullett jumping all over the place. We had a porpurse follow us for more then an hour. He would just swim around the boat, then follow us for a while. He was begging. Poor dumb bastard.
WE DIDN"T catch any fish. 3 ladyfish, one small jack.
Just another day on the water. The temp was 78* by noon. A little cool this morning when we started, about 68*.
WE stopped by the lodge for a beer on the way home, so it wasn't a wasted day.

$1400 worth of damage. At that rate you might not go on that trip to NZ. Did it snap off the pole?

Carolle probably snapped off his Johnson. I guess it could have been worse. She might have broken his stash of Bat Juice.:D

Howard, I am happy to say she was a picture of decorum--- no yelling or throwing things. Just said--"good!! Now you wont ever bug me about my driving!" Women are too understanding..:(

Dan-- the power pole was unscathed. The plasic taillight assembly and wrap around plastic bumper ---- not so good.

Oh yeah

Do not feel bad Bryan. Awhile back I was backing up in my drive way and hit my daughters car and crunched the trunk in.I thought no problem. I have insurance.Well, was I wrong. They do not cover your car if it is hit by another car on your policy.

I'll bet Corey, my son, would love to change days with you. He was launching my boat on Friday afternoon when his emergency brake cable broke and watched as the car sunk at the ramp. He was by himself and in the boat backing it off the trailer when he heard the brake cable snap:eek:

The Gulf water temp is 64*. At 70* the cobia start their run north. It should hit 70* by a week from this Fri. I hope.
Last report they were just off Lost man's river this past Monday. That's about 70 miles south of here. They will take their time and move with the water warming up. We fish for them about 5oo' from the shore into the Gulf. What a hoot on a fly rod. My best on a 6wt rod was a nice 25lbs. I have taken a lot on a 8, 10, and 12 wt.
On spinning rods we use 10lb test, 25lb leader. Usually with a pin fish for bait. We are going to go out in the gulf this Fri if it isn't to rough, just hunting for them.
My fishing partner has a 24" Carolina Skiff. Lot's of room to use a fly rod. Without getting a 3/0 hook in the jaw. I still have the scar from the last one. Rememmber???
