View Full Version : The wall
Only six months late but they're finally driving steel. 100' in and 300' to go. Then backfill. Won't be long I can put a dock and lift in. Maybe by the end of Ray's cruising season :)

Here's the reason for the erosion. This is only 1'-2' in a southerly 25. We get 3'+ at times hitting the bank.

that's a lot of money going in the water there, Dan :) At the rate it's going down here, we are gonna have to move to higher ground if it keeps up. 15 inches and counting in 2 weeks. And, more is on the way. Did you get the metal kind or PVC? My brother had the steel stuff put in on his lake house on Livingston and it's really held its own.
Mont - It's steel. It'll still be holding back the waves after I'm long gone ;)
You're getting a lot more rain than us. We've had about 8" in 2 weeks, but more on the way tomorrow. When I don't have anything else to do I'm on the roof (new in 2003) reflashing where the roofers didn't do a wonderful job
Stay dry......
Dan, post up some pics as it goes in. It's pretty kewl how they do it all. We are getting pounded again tonight. 16 inches and counting. My rain gauge looks like a gas pump with 4 dollar per gallon gas going through it. The good news is I think I found the diesel leak on the boat today. If I am right, it was a clamp they never tightened. I got the diapers under it just ahead of this mess.

If a single clamp was loose the installer made two mistakes. NOT putting on double clamps and NOT tightening the one he put on.
Looked at the Houston radar just now and it still looks like a deluge this morning. We have pea soup fog and they're calling for more rain today. Spring in Texas :)
Speaking of the wall and dock, that Century you told me about a year ago is still for sale. But he's asking top dollar - comparing to the other 2007's on the market. But it would look good out back; just have to tow it down for Gulf runs. I'm also going to have to check the clearance under the I30 bridge.
Dan, I think everything that was for sale a year ago, still is. There's more for sale boats than any other kind in South Shore Harbor right now. There's a brand new 2007 50 foot Ocean Alexander there that hasn't even been fitted with electronics that I would love to have. Talk about a nice boat.
The Houston TV stations had an on air orgasm this morning. It's hard to believe how stupid they can get over some rain. 4 hours of continuous coverage on all 3 major networks. Repeating the same stupid crap, over and over and over.
I got to the bottom of my leak. I decided to wait until in the morning when my blood pressure has gone back down to deal with it. They broke a fitting on the generator lift pump and threaded pipe back over a plastic barb thread to "fix it".
