Our man is back in the hospital. Been there about a week. He'll be having the femoral artery replaced from groin to ankle on Monday. If it doesn't work this time, he well may lose the leg. Say a prayer, gents.
~~Greg~~
Prayers for safe surgery and a speedy recovery! Thanks for the info Greg.

I just got off the phone with Christine. Dan came through the Artery surgery OK. As she said, they have other issues they must address. Right now he is still in ICU. Christine hopes and expects that he will get out of there tomorrow.
I passed on to her, thanks from all of his friends here, for taking such good care of him and being there for him.
Lets all keep those good thoughts for a grand guy.
that sounds like good news, Howard. Keep us posted.

Got a surprise call from Capt. Dan a few minutes ago. He is doing well and so far the arterial replacement seems to be going well. He told me that the incision was 33" long and closed with staples. I guess it will cause all kinds of alarms and bells to go off at Airport Security. He is hoping that the Doctors will release him over the weekend.
He knows we are all pulling for him and appreciates it. I will more then likely call him on Sunday. I have his cell number and that is what he called me on. I also have his home number and if he is not able to get the phone, Christine will. Any of you that do not have the numbers can PM me for it.
All of you have a safe weekend. I almost have the frigging Ark finished.
ninguna más lluvia, por favor

I spoke with the elder statesman this afternoon as well. I have heard him sound better, but he didn't sound bad. The prognosis seems good. I specifically asked him what his doctors thought, & he told me they were confident that this would work. I intend to go across the state to fish with him in the next month or so. I'd feel really bad if I delayed the trip so long that the good captain was no longer able to enjoy the time spent.
Howard, this state has been a tinderbox for months. A few days of lluvia is not going to fix the drought. Enjoy the rain. Heck, I fished in it this morning. I won't w*#k in it, but I'll fish in it. The only thing I really dislike about it is that it makes the d#*n grass grow.

I'm home, not moving fast. In fact just barely moving. By god that's one hell of a nasty gash they carved in my leg. So far it looks good. From the groin to way below the knee. I will be house bound for many weeks, probably a few months. I will have a house nurse for 4 weeks, every day. A physcial therisp 3 days a week and lot's of pain pills. Time for another nap. I sure do a lot of puking.
Dan

Being housebound is far better than some other alternatives. Welcome home Dan

Spoke to Dan yesterday afternoon. He is glad to be home. Says he is still in a lot of pain, but like the Champ that he is, is bearing it well. He expects that the home recovery will be about a month. He agreed that the pain killers are not near as good as a Mt. Gay Rum.
I am thinking of making a run across the state to visit with him when he is up to it. North Port is close to Punta Gorda. Should be about a 3.5-4 hour run for me but, he is so well worth the time.

Wow! I really need to visit this board more often. I'm sorry to hear you had troubles, Capt Dan. However, I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. Try not to chase that nurse around the house for a few weeks and get better soon! :D
