Thanks Mont. They changed the blast off tomorrow from noon to 9 AM which I'm happy about. The dog's at summer camp and the trash is out :)

Hopefully have the boat in a slip in a couple of weeks and start the outfitting. We should be sea-ready shortly thereafter.

Hope to check back in around Sunday.......

May the fishing goddess be with you, Dan. Faith is her class Valedictorian and we are going to see her awarded that tomorrow evening and then it's a full press Ling Quest this weekend. They have been thick lately, and I am hoping they are on Saturday morning. If I hit into them, I will be back out there on Sunday. Post up when you get done.

Monty: That, sir, is quite an honor. Tell her the Green Guys are as proud of her as we can be.

JD had a hip replaced today. I haven't heard anything, so I am taking that as good news. He's got a brand new Mako on hold until he can be Capt. JD again. Of course, that's assuming BJ lets him. :)

I have a big Ling, Lemon Fish, Cobia, trip planned on Saturday morning. They are real thick out there right now, and about this time a few years back, I put a 53 pounder in the boat.

BJ, if you are reading this, give us an update on Dan.

First congratulations to Faith and her proud family, Mont. That's speaks well of her upbringing and her dedication to learning.

Second, I trust Capt. Dan is improving. I pray for the best possible outcome. His problem, PVD, was my wife's specialty when she was practicing medicine.

Lastly, I've known the hip would eventually have to be replaced and it really went downhill in past several months. Definitely could not run offshore and, at times, couldn’t stand on a beach and cast. I researched all the options and procedures available and settled on the minimally invasive anterior replacement operation. They don't filet the bone  and cut thru many tendons (reattach any that needed to be moved) but go in thru a small incision that is in front of the pelvis. I then searched for a surgeon in Dallas that did this procedure.

Found one at Baylor U. hospital and he had all the credentials. Additionally, he was to insert a newly design full titanium hip guaranteed for life and doesn't have the propensity to pop out (nasty thing to have happen 40 miles out) or wear.

Went in Thursday morning 5/28. Surgery was 2 hours, recovery 4 and I came home at 11 AM today. Just a bit more than 48 hours. It'll still be awhile before I can scramble around a boat. The dealer has the Mako in covered storage until mid-July (I can take it out earlier). Once outfitted I'm ready to try the boat and hip out this fall - whoooooohooooooo.

That's good news, Dan. The ling were absent from class today, but the kings were so thick, we had two on at the same time. It was like a fire drill for a while. We also put a line out coming through the tanker anchorage area and caught the biggest Jack Crevale I have ever seen, personally. I really wanted to take it to the dock and see if anyone needed any tuna, but it spit the hook during the photo op. If you need any help bringing the boat home, let me know. Both trucks have a class 5 hitch on them.

Glad to hear all went well, Dan, with the hip replacement. My Mom had the old type of surgery about 15 years ago and she has to be real careful that hers doesn't pop out. It's nice to know they are making those things better, in case I need one someday! I hope you recover quickly so you can get out on that new boat!
Monty, did any of those Kings have stripes? :D LOL!

Hey Joe, no sir, unfortunately, these are regular old Texas king fish. Just the right size for eating too. It was absolutely gorgeous out there. I am still chasing a small problem on the starboard engine, but it's getting close to being fixed. I am really ready to make a long run, maybe even an over nighter. The a/c and fridge are really nice and the cabin is just the right size to take a nice nap when it's time. Here's a couple of pics.

Dan, getterdone with the boat, amigo. The 2nd and 3rd week of August will be here soon. It's never better than that.

Well, those aren't as tasty as the striped kind, but they are fun to catch! A friend of mine soaks the filets in Texas Pete for a while and then covers them in Saltine cracker crumbs and fries in peanut oil. They come out pretty good that way!

Good luck with that engine.

I like making Greg's fish dip out of them, Joe. That recipe is always a favorite. I have even got my Dad hooked on it.

I got the impeller pulled yesterday only to find the new one I had as a spare was too big. I really don't think that's it anyways, but at least it's going to be one less thing on the list.
