Well I took the plunge and bought a little piece of paradise today. I found a lot in the fishing town of Rockport Texas. It's about 4 blocks off the water. Someone actually convertered the lot as an extension of their backyard. It's got over 20 palm trees of different varieties, huge plumerias of every color, key lime tree, reg. lime tree, naval orange tree, mango tree, blood orange tree, pineapples, exotic vines growing on many oak trees, and so many others that I can't even name them all, irrigation system, koi pond and it's all enclosed on all 4 sides behind a 6 ft. privacy fence. I'm not exactly sure when I'll start the house. But it's a big jump from the weekend trailer trash I was accustomed to. I'm looking for a good floor plan, something open, small, and tropical. I will be building the house myself. I'll keep you posted. Here's some photos of the lot. Life IS good! Rusty

Awesome! Living well is the best revenge. That third shot looks exactly like what is outside the west side of my house. Same oak, same vine.

Hey Greg-- better get up there and do a snake patrol for Rusty. There HAS to be critters hiding in those bushes!!! :)
Congrats Rusty. Nice section of coast - secluded but close enough to Aransas Pass and Corpus Christi.
Rusty, from the pictures it looks like it has everything you need. No need for a house, just a pup tent, sanican and a BBQ :D Life looks good :D

I would greatly appreciate a snake shakedown :) I might be staying in the pup tent when it's time to build, but should probably wait until hurricane season passes. A lot of the fruit trees are right where the house will go. Hopefully in the fall I can successfully transplant them but I've never done this before. If all else fails I'll haul out the ole chainsaw and replant new trees. I guess I'd better find a lawn boy so I can spend some time in the surf.

I can see it now...one bungalow for each family member. It would be just like the Kennedy's family compound in the Hamptons only it would be in Rockport and probably orange like Home Depot. Now that's a life of luxury!

might have found the 'lawn boy' landscapers you need
