Fished yesterday with my buddy Tom as insurance for the fish fry tomorrow. We caught almost enough to feed the twenty-odd people expected. I just changed the line on all my reels, & sent Fred's grandson (almost Monty sized & a junior in high school) off with three bags of ice, a case of long necks, three boxes of Panko, 8 sides of trigger fish & ten sides of snapper. Six of us will fish again tomorrow morning. I also told him I was thinking that the team that caught the biggest edible fish excluding the float line would drink at the Tiki Hut on the other team. We'll need to catch some fish for the fry, but the trip yesterday took a little of the pressure off.
This trip was originally set up for six snake type friends who have been in touch, but not seen each other as often as we might have. Been knowin' each other for 25 years or more. Three of the six won't be able to fish. One bad leg, one bum shoulder, & one gall bladder operation. That one is not good, they're thinking he has liver/pancreatic cancer. Hopefully, all the guys who were going to fish will be able to make the fish fry.
