the past few weeks... haven't been online for most of that time
the shortened version.... my older 82 yr old cousin.. actually my Mom's cousin--my 2nd cousin.. went into the hospital for severe back pain about 3-4 weeks ago..after about a week they sent her to a rehab/nursing home for in-house rehab... caught pneumonia there... transferred her to another hospital's ICU where she went into a coma and passed away on June 30th... pretty healthy lady for her age.. no medical problems .. kinda scarry...
on the early morning of June 30th we left for Brooklyn--the Sheepshead Bay area-- where she lived with her older sister not too far from where I grew up... when we got there we found out she passed away that morning.... after the funeral on Friday we decided to stay in Brooklyn to help her sister get settled ... wound up staying 8 days..we always were a pretty close knit family and lived close to each other.... then had to leave for Long Island as Pat had a bridal shower to go to.. stayed there for another 5 days...
this past Monday left LI and stopped over in Atlantic City as we usually do on the drive back --stayed in Harrahs on a 3 nite comp.. hooked up with Bob AC/NJ formerly of the GG Board way back when.. when we head to AC we always hang out with Bob and his wife.. dinners... fishing etc... Bob was nice enuff to take me fishing on his boat two days for Fluke( summer flounder)... caught a lot of shorts--mucho many-- ( NJ has 18" and a 6 bag limit) Bob caught a nice 23" fluke.. along with a 21" one.. I had a 21" and a 19" besides all the shorts and throwbacks.. Bob runs a fishing charter service--AC Lighttackle http://www.aclighttackle.com -- these days after he retired from the AC Police Dept
got back home Thursday evening... all I can say is.. that darn place up there in NY is crowded as heck--especially Brooklyn...first time I've stayed over in Brooklyn since 1960... it sure is good to be back home though... ahhhh!
