The front came thru last night. It's cloudy, 24*, north winds at 30 gusting to 40. Supposed to moderate up to a balmy 28*. Colder tomorrow.

Gonna burn some wood in the next 48 hours. I did note it was 58* at the Galveston weather buoy - be a great day for fishing but the seas are a bit choppy at 6'.

C'mon spring..........

I wonder if PK decided to stay south for the winter :D

It was 57 here this morning when I headed to work. It's 43 and falling now. I had 3 magnetic block heaters air freighted in for the boat. They seem to be holding the temperature nicely. On top of those, I put the heater on 74 for the cabin and opened the doors up to the head. For the $150 those block heaters cost me and a little bit of power, I can even get the mechanic down to the boat, let alone fix anything.

The marina turned off all the water yesterday. Preparing for this freeze has been about as much fun as putting up the hurricane boards. But, I got my pipes wrapped, a heater rigged up in the RV (and drained it), and all my extra attic vents sealed. I can do without popping any pipes or freeze plugs.

I'd love to see 57 degrees. Haven't seen that since last Friday. Might see it again by Wednesday, but not sure. The predictions are way off the mark. It was supposed to be 29 here this morning. It was 38. If my work (land surveying) was that accurate, I'd be livin' under a bridge. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be 40, warming up to at or just shy of 70. I'll be aboard the Mad Son, & I'll wear my Kevlar glove to clean fish. Don't need to be filleting my hand again before I take the stitches out.

Mulled wine might be the order of the evening, gents. Not quite as nice as Dan's buttered Mount Gay, maybe, but it's nice on a cold night.

It hit 27 here this morning. With the wind letting up and the clear skies, I bet it's a few degrees colder tonight. Things are supposed to get back to normal next week, though. I hope they do, I have concrete guys scheduled for Monday to Wed to pour my patio.

We have more of that cold crap here in NE Florida. I have been running the pool filter and water circulation 24hrs to make sure nothing freezes. Got the sprinkler system off and the valves open. We have been here for 23 years and I never recall it this cold for so long. I do not always see Vicki when she leaves to go to Lighthouse in the morning. However after the first cold day, when she came home, I thought we were invaded by an Inuit Woman and her Dogs.

Here, I lift a glass of Good Rum (Black) to warmer days for all of us.

16* this morning and the flag was standing out straight with the star field to the north. White caps from shore to shore. Supposed to be colder tonight but the wind should die down. The dog has been taking himself out each morning these days - he doesn't need company to do his thing :D

A glass of brandy before retiring (at halftime) last evening made for a sound winter sleep ;)

It looks like tonight is the last of the bad stuff here. Rusty, I am pumped about the new patio, it's for our 25th anniversary in 18 months. I settled on 25 by 35 with a 40 inch wood railing all around. The way I am laying out the railings will make it easy to keep the dogs off of it when we have company. I talked to the well company this afternoon and they are going to put in a 4 inch well to keep the pond full pretty soon. It's a good time to be doing home improvement with the economy like it is. Prices are a lot better than I got about 2 years ago. I haven't been beating people up on price, but I have been getting a whole lot more for the same price.

BTW, I am going to the rally in March out your way. We need to get together and have dinner or lunch one day. It's the 3rd weekend of March. I haven't ever been to this one and with Stacy and Faith's schedule, it's one of only 3 we are going to do this year.

Usually by this time on Fri we all have our fishing fix report. The weather over his way should have been OK today. The rain didn't start here untill 4pm today.
I'm sure our boy went fishing today.
Rain tonight and tomorrow morning, 50% worth. Then Sat night 25 friggen *. That should really drop the temp down for Howard. HOWARD, drink more black RUM. Right Bryan???
Still no word from the lost Brooklyn cop???
No internet hook up on the beeeg boat?

I haven't written up a report yet, Dan. Short version: It was the prettiest day we have had or will have for more than a week. I caught very little more than nothing, but had fun doing it. Watched one friend catch a legal African Pompano & a small legal kingfish, and another buddy catch a beautiful 9# mutton snapper.

Would not surprise me if Ray & Pat got back to the dock and saw the cold and went back on another cruise. I would imagine it is pretty cool in Calabash NC.

This totally wacko--- in the 50s again today. No sign of change for at least a week and I was serenaded with a tree frog chorus this afternoon. Someone will have to tell them they are two months early for any hanky-panky! Got time for a quick trip up north Greg-- you DO speak thier language dont you? Or is it just "HISSSSS" ?

Bry: I have been lucky with the weather. Last week it was cold every day except Friday which began a little below fifty & warmed up to about 70. This week is cold again, as was the weekend, but Friday is predicted to start near sixty & warm to mid 70's. I am happy for your treefrogs, but I'll pass on the trip for now. My rule for trips is south in the winter, north in the summer. Only time I have broken that is when forced to by my wife.

Glad you are enjoying unseasonably warm weather. Thank Algore.

This morning in pitiful down town North Port in south west FLORIDA.
The temp was 27.4*. The school kids up north are all getting a chuckle from this but they closed the schools here. A weather day.
Florida Power and Light has been shutting off the power so many minutes per hour. Shortage of juice.
Even I'll start bitching here pretty soon, temp in the 20's and no heat. My Daddy alwasy said, Ya gotta be tough to get along in this world.
I think I'll go live with Bryan, hell it's in the 50's up yonder. I'll take a case of Mount Gay Rum and migrate. I speak that China talk.

Dan .. :D

Was 58* inland today. I wish I was a bit closer to Mont's place. The Galveston weather buoy was showing winds at 1.9 gusting to 1.9, seas a whopping 1' and 51* air temp over 54* water. Been a great day for a Tuna run :) And the cats would really love some fresh Tuna.

p.s. the brandy and fire last evening were fine ends to a bitter winter.....I hope
