;)

After 20 years of faithful service, my fav rod has let me down. Now-- I paid at least $45 (Canadian -when our dollar was referred to as the Northern Peso) for this Daiwa Graphite Procaster medium action rod. Before being relegated to the boat, it was my "go to" steelhead reel. Over the years it beat into submission many salmon, lingcod and other unsuspecting critters. About 8 years ago, I paid more than the original price to have the rod professionally restored..... Its just "felt right" So that is why I am sooo disappointed that the rod let me down during the heat of battle... Not a big salmon, but fiesty.... the fish was at the net when "BANG!" , I suddenly had a three piece rod, instead of a two piece... But on its last gasp-- I played the fish into the net with the bottom 3rd of the rod...

Ahhhh, but you still have the rod AND the fish........yep, hate to lose THE rod.

I had a guy restore one that broke like that (well, 2 pieces). Inserted small dows in the ends and epoxied them back together. Was great for the wall as it lost its feel :(

It looks like you almost got your money's worth out of that one.

(The yellow fisher-kennedy hurricane one in the background is probably about the same age?)

Offhand, I would say that you got your northern peso's worth out of it. You could spend five or six times that now, & get a rod that is guaranteed forever.

There are several manufacturers that do that, one of which can be found at http://roguerods.com

What a great fish story and also a nice fish. I hate to see you lose your favorite rod, but I must say I hope that when my time comes I will go out fighting a fiesty fish and in pieces like your favorite rod did. Life WAS good!

Its not my fault that we cant get together Tahsis Man----- you have to realize that I have a very busy social calender so I book MONTHS in advance.. I know I promised to teach you how to fish for salmon, but you will just have to wait for a while longer..... ;)

Strange how getting the word that your daughter and your grandkids are coming to town for a week sort of rearranges a person schedule!! :D

Gee Bryan, I'm sorry to hear about your favorite rod breaking. I guess we all have done that at one time or another. At least you got your fish! :D
