Since the sun isn't getting any less brutal around here, I have been working on some shade for the boat. It's hard to put anything back there that won't get in the way, so I made something I can take down and put up in under 3 minutes. I am still waiting on 2 Lee's rod holders for the upper mounts, but have been using straps for now. Sarge and I used it Monday and it really helps out. I have $200 in the 4 poles, $50 in the sun shade and another $150 for 2 Lee rod holders to go up top. For $400 bux, it works good, doesn't take up much space and most of all, keeps the sun off me. It hit 92 again here yesterday, so it's still plenty hot. I also have a smaller tarp that fits there that could be used for rain water collection in a pinch. It also works great for trips where casting is involved (it's 2 feet less wide). Here's a few pics. The poles store on the upper deck out of the way in holders I put up there last week.
